(04) - Student Choice #7: Preparing to Meet the Lord

The Lord wanted the children of Israel to become a "kingdom of priests" and a "holy nation."  He commanded the people to keep His covenant and obey the things the Lord asks them to do.  If the people would accomplish these commandments, the Lord said that He would come down to mount Sinai and be in the sight of the people.  They would be able to see Him.

These commandments and promises are even relatable to us today.  We probably won't receive the exact same covenants and promises as the children of Israel did, but the situation is pretty much the same as it is in any situation in our daily lives.  When we do not keep the commandments, we do not receive blessings and instead receive consequences.  When we do keep the commandments and accomplish the things the Lord has asked us to do, we are blessed.  We probably don't physically see the Lord like the children of Israel were promised, but when we keep the commandments and covenants we have made with Him, we become closer to Him, just as the people in these scriptures did.
