(01) - Student Choice #2: Whom God Calls, He Qualifies

  • In Moses 6: 26-31, the Lord described the people of Enoch's day as a wicked people.  They have much to repent of if they want to find favor with God.  They have done many wicked things like denying God and devising murder.  God told Enoch that he should tell them that they need to repent of their sins and make sure they hear God's message.
  • When Enoch heard what God wanted him to do, he asked why he should be the one to do this task.  He doesn't understand why God would want someone so slow of speech to deliver such a message.
  •  Fortunately for Enoch, God tells him to do what He is telling him to do and words will be put in his mouth and the Spirit will inspire him as to what to do and say.  Because of Enoch's faith in God and what he could do for him while leading these people, Enoch spoke extremely powerful language and it was so powerful that the earth trembled.  The people Enoch led were blessed and the Lord stayed with them, calling them Zion.
  • One of my younger cousins developed a rare and new form of epilepsy when she was two years old.  She had hundreds of seizures a day, tried several different drugs and diets, and has taken many trips to many different doctors.  All of this happened for no apparent reason that can be found.  Her family has done all they can and have gotten really discouraged at times, but have always remained faithful.  Right now, she is seizure free after years and is just now starting to wean off of one of her drugs.  Though we don't know exactly what lies ahead for her, we know that because of the family's faith and because of miracles, she is here today.  I really believe that the Lord is blessing them and our entire family for their faith and perseverance.
  • The Bible has very little about Enoch and the book of Moses has quite a bit.  I just noticed that the Pearl of Great Price went into a lot more detail and told the entire story of Enoch instead of just how long he lived and who his family was.  What we can learn from both books however, is that Enoch walked with God.  His faith blessed him and those around him.
